Estate Planning Attorney, Trusts, Wills, and Probate

Estate planning isn’t just for the elderly or seriously ill. If you have a family, an estate plan can help you protect your spouse, children, or other important loved ones after your death. Moreover, an estate plan can also protect your interests if you become incapacitated due to a life-threatening injury or medical condition. Our Utica estate planning attorney can help you with the following:
  • Administration of a loved one’s probate estate
  • Durable powers of attorney that help direct your healthcare, financial, and business decisions while you’re incapacitated
  • Legal guardianship documents protecting a minor child or disabled adult
  • Wills and trusts that distribute your assets

Personal Injury

When someone else’s negligence or misconduct causes serious injuries, it’s important to consult with a Utica personal injury lawyer. Insurance companies frequently delay paying legitimate personal injury claims or deny them completely. Our experienced litigators can help you recover the compensation you deserve. We represent accident victims who were involved in the following:
  • Bicycle accidents
  • Car and truck accidents
  • Dangerous and defective products and medications (products liability)
  • Medical and professional malpractice
  • Motorcycle accidents
  • Nursing home neglect
  • Slip and falls
  • Wrongful death
If you have questions about a personal injury claim, do not delay in calling a Utica lawyer. Michigan sets relatively short filing deadlines in these claims. If you do not file the correct paperwork before your deadline expires, you’ll lose your right to compensation.

Great to work with! We have a plan through MetLaw through my work and they accept it here. There was only a $25 extra free on top for the materials and binder we received. They follow a COVID process which we appreciated. They were incredibly helpeful and answered all our questions. The in person part took about 1.5 hours- just FYI for planning!

Scott and Sarah at the Rochester office were professional and efficient in getting a whole estate plan in place for me. They walked me through every step, coaching me regarding what each document was, how it impacted my estate plan, and finally how all of the documents work together. At the end of the process I now have all the documents I (well, my estate) will need when I pass. Thank you.

About Sterling Heights, Michigan

About Sterling Heights, Michigan

Sterling Heights, Michigan

Sterling Heights is a city in Macomb County of the U.S. state of Michigan, and one of Detroit‘s core suburbs. As of the 2020 Census, the city had a total population of 134,346. It is the second largest suburb in Metro Detroit, and the fourth largest city in Michigan.

History

The area which now makes up Sterling Heights Michigan was first surveyed by Deputy Surveyor Joseph Wampler; and the survey was approved on February 20, 1818.

Originally created as part of Shelby Charter Township, Michigan in April 1827; it was broken off as Jefferson Township in March 1835; and renamed Sterling Township in March 1838.

Until the 1950s, Sterling Heights was an agricultural area largely devoted to growing rhubarb and other crops sold in Detroit. Sterling Heights was incorporated as a city in 1968. There was already a small village named Sterling in Arenac County, so the word “Heights” was added to the township name to satisfy a state law that prevents incorporated municipalities from having the same name.

Gerald Donovan became the first mayor of the city and F. James Dunlop became the first mayor pro-tem. In the 1960s and 1970s, many residents came to live in Sterling Heights to work in automobile plants operated by Chrysler and FordLakeside Mall opened in Sterling Heights in 1976.

The city is home to many groups of immigrants. It has received many people of ethnic eastern European origins, including ethnic Albanians, Bosnians, Croatians, Macedonians, Montenegrins, Poles, Serbians, and Slovenians. After the 2003 U.S.-Iraqi War, millions of Iraqi citizens were displaced, particularly Iraqi Christians (Chaldean and Assyrian). Of these, 30,000-50,000 resettled in Sterling Heights, giving parts of the city the nickname “Little Baghdad”, especially around 15 Mile Road and Ryan
